COVID-19 Tournament Procedures

Hopkins Royals Boys Basketball Association (HRBBA)

What will other tournaments look like this year?

Hopkins Royals Boys Basketball Association (HRBBA) teams will be playing in several tournaments throughout the Twin Cities this season and we’ve communicated with all the different basketball organizations to share best practices and ensure the safest possible experience for the players, coaches, referees, parents and organizers. Here are some of the things you should expect going into the season. Most tournaments may:

  • Require masks for all players, coaches, spectators and referees. Players will be allowed to take them off during the games.
  • Spectators plans are up in the air at this point. Please look for communication from HRBBA and your team parents as each tournament comes up.
  • Potentially arriving ready to play & leaving immediately after the game.
  • Potentially running clock to ensure games are starting and ending as close as scheduled.
  • Following best practices of washing/sanitizing hands before the game, at half and at the end of the game.
  • Follow the 6 feet separation guidelines as much as possible before, during, and after the game

These are general guidelines collected through various conversations and discussions. It should be expected that HRBBA teams will follow all specific guidelines of the individual tournaments we attend.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Matt Dalle, HRBBA president.

NOTE: MOST ASSOCIATIONS WILL BE WATCHING THE MOST CURRENT MDH AND CDC GUIDELINES FOR COVID-19. THESE GUIDELINES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME.
